We love what we do and take pride in our birds and the babies we raise. That's why you can be assured that we give our precious baby birds the very best of care. We keep our nursery close to us within our home and provide all the babies with an abundance of tender loving care and human interaction. This daily care and handling, which they most certainly enjoy, makes them quite friendly and ready to adapt to their new family.

How do we ensure that our birds are the best pet quality?
Our Answer: An abundance of TLC and human interaction.
In our experiences, we have come to learn that these two things are key in raising and maintaining good pet quality birds and we realize that it takes more than just hand feeding to produce an adult pet bird that is tame, well-adjusted and happy. So, once we pull our babies from their nestboxes; we take them out of the aviary and to the nursery for handraising. They become very hand tame through handraising and we ultimately gain their trust and love in return. After we see that they are ready to come out of the nest and start exploring on their own, we begin socializing them right away. This gets them used to being around humans and daily life within the home. When they are fully weaned and have learned how to fly, there are certain techniques that we use in order to establish good pet quality traits in them. First, we clip one of their wings to limit their ability to fly real well. At this age, they are not yet mature enough to know they are missing anything. It maintains their dependency on us and basically allows us to stay in control. Second, we let them out of their cages daily to play and interact with us where we can begin the training process early on. We train them the basic step-up command right away and teach them to sit on our shoulders. All this combined establishes a trusting human bond and produces a loving, sweet and hand tame baby bird. We carefully and gradually adapt the babies into little human companions and the babies are then ready for their new homes.
